Renovations!

We have been doing a few things here and there to fix up the house, new windows, some new paint here and there, but this week we got serious and decided to get rid of the hideous lava rocks that were stuck on our fireplace. I don't know what the people who put them up were thinking when they spray painted them white... but its all good now. Si'i took a sledge hammer to them and they just popped right off! It was so satisfying to watch (me and Manu were watching the manual labor take place).
Si'i hard at work taking the rocks down.
The bare naked fireplace with its old circa 1970 paint and our test patches.
The new and glorious fireplace with chocolate truffle paint. Eventually we want to redo it with tile and a mantle and stuff, but we are pacing our projects for now.

We are also getting new carpet in the bedrooms and we are going to refinish the original hardwood floors in the living and dining room. Wish us luck. We've been watching how to videos on YouTube so hopefully we will end up with a nice new hardwood floor.

The weather has finally been getting better and I am SO happy. I miss warm weather and playing outside but its slowly warming up. Manu loves the swings at the park. Last night we went to swing for a while and when it was time to come home she threw a big fit. I swear she is in her "terrible twos" already and she's only 13 months! But maybe that means she'll be over it by the time she's really two.
This swing picture is from when it was still snowing which was like two weeks ago.
watching basketball with cousin Clint. This was when we were in Oregon for Chris and Cheri K's wedding.
